Playfight Monos
A PROVOCATION
The average age at which children first see pornography is 13 years old.
We want to work with you to use theatre to address this issue. So,
Theatre Uncut want you to create a monologue that explores what it’s like for teenagers to come across this content, how it affects them, and how it affects the people around them.
We then ask you to do two things:
1/ Send your script to getinvolved@theatreuncut.com so we can feature it on our website
2/ Record yourself (or an actor friend) doing your monologue and upload it to YouTube, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #playfightmonos
6/ Imagine a moment when you could see a friend was in trouble and you didn’t know how to help.
7/ Imagine a moment when you saw something wrong, and you didn’t do something about it.
8/ Imagine a sex education class that actually prepares you for the challenges of being a teenager in 2025.
9/ Who or what controls the adult entertainment industry?
10/ What experiences do you think a teenager in 2100 be faced with?
To get you started we have come up with a list of 10 provocations:
1/ What does it feel like to be attracted to someone for the first time?
2/ What does it feel like to feel new sensations that you don’t know how to control?
3/ What do you want vs what you think you are meant to want?
4/ What does real connection feel like?
5/ What do you feel is expected of you?
This project is in response to Playfight by Julia Grogan which follows three friends as they navigate their desires throughout their teenage years on the backdrop of rising violence in adolescent relationships.
Playfight is currently playing at the Soho Theatre and the playtext can be purchased HERE.
